Introduction To Supervision

Audience:

Anyone with new supervisory responsibilities.

Duration:

Two to five days.

Brief Description:

Using in baskets, assessments and many small group activities, participants focus on the role of management and new skills required to manage.  A company typically customizes this course by selecting modules from our programs to best address skills needed.  Below is a common curriculum.
Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
  • Describe how the role of manager differs from the role of individual contributor
  • Identify key management functions and the skills required to implement them.
  • Diagnose their management strengths and weaknesses.
  • Demonstrate specific communication skills (active listening and assertion skills).
  • Write performance goals and use them to conduct a performance appraisal.
  • Diagnose their management strengths and weaknesses.
  • Demonstrate coaching skills.
